Type locality: Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Diagnosis

Male is similar to A. maccleeryi by (a) head black posterior to antennae; (b) head and thorax marked orange and greenish; (c) dorsum of middle lobe of prothorax largely black; (d) dorsum of S4-5 largely or entirely black; (e) S9-10 marked with orange; (f) paraprocts and cerci pale; (g) cerci (slightly) shorter than paraprocts. However, differs by (1) ranging from S Kenya to E Tanzania; (2) smaller size, Hw 21-25 mm; (3) labrum usually all black, but occasionally with yellow centre; (4) lobes of penis laterally rounded rather than sickle-shaped. Habitat description

Headwater streams shaded by forest. Often with a gravelly and/or probably sandy bottom and coarse detritus. From 200 to 2000 m above sea level.
