Diagnosis

No diagnosis of this species is presently available, but as U. saphirina is probably a synonym, please refer to that species.

Habitat description

Mostly headwaters, but also larger streams, shaded by forest. Mostly with a gravelly bottom, but often also a sandy and/or soft (like muddy) bottom, and probably submerged roots and/or coarse detritus. From 0 to 1300 m above sea level, but mostly below 1200, although possibly even higher up.
