Type locality: Algeria, no locality data available.
Diagnosis
Male is similar to A. variegatum by (a) labrum largely pale; (b) pale markings on Abd fragmented and frayed, extend to S7-8, S4-5 broadly black on dorsal carina; (c) S3-4 strongly swollen, S5 sharply narrowed, S6-10 slender. However, differs by (1) ranging from S Africa to W and N Africa; (2) carinae forming ventro-apical corner of S4 are entirely black, rather than largely white; (3) lateral carina of S5 all black, rather than usually partly white; (4) S6 less than 2.5x as long as high. Habitat description
Mostly standing and probably often temporary waters, but also rivers and possibly flowing channels in marshes, in open landscapes sometimes in forest. Usually with emergent and aquatic vegetation, often with a soft (like muddy) bottom. From 0 to 1700 m above sea level.
